Scope: New Construction Residence, Architecture and Interiors

After the owners lost their previous two-story home in the 2018 Nun’s fire, they decided to build a home with a more immediate connection to the landscape and environment. The new design provides space for entertaining, weekend guests of all ages, and outdoor living. Each room connects to a unique part of the hillside, including trails, terraced gardens,  an outdoor kitchen, a rooftop overlook, and a stone patio with a hot tub. Fire saftey was addressed through fire resistant materials and significant defensible space. A “hardened” exterior shell of metal roofing, stone, and tempered dual glazed windows prevents flying embers from accessing and igniting inside the home.
